Do I have to maintain a certain average to stay in the program?

To get accepted into Communications, Media Arts, or a Combined Communication and Media Arts program, you will need a GPA of 5.0, and a grade of at least a C. This is also the grade you will need to maintain in order to stay in the program.

Is there a way to get in touch with students who are already in the program?

How can I get involved in the Communications and Media Arts Society (CMAS)? 

At the end of winter semester, typically around April-May, we hold applications that are open to anyone who would like a role within the society. However, there are several opportunities throughout the school year to attend events and meet people from the team. See our events calendar for more information!

Where are the best places to buy textbooks?

Check out the McMaster Campus Store, either online  at https://campusstore.mcmaster.ca or in-person, to learn more about buying textbooks. 

Do any courses require me to purchase my own equipment or software?

Being enrolled in a Communications or Media Arts program grants you access to media labs on campus, where you are permitted to use the facilities and software for free. There are also several ways to access equipment through various campus services, such as, https://library.mcmaster.ca/equipment which provides students with several different options for equipment they can use for free.

How do I get in touch with an academic advisor?

If you have not had an academic advisor previously reach out to you, then you can contact the academic advising office (https://humadvising.humanities.mcmaster.ca) and they will put you in contact with the best person to assist you.
